SCOTT Chipperfield's Swiss club FC Basel completed a league and cup double on Saturday, but the Socceroos World Cup hero wasn't part of the celebrations.

An injured Chipperfield is back home in Australia and missed his club's 2-0 final-day victory over title rivals Young Boys Bern.

The victory brought Basel their 12th league title and first in three years after having missed out in the last round for the past two years.

Chipperfield has returned home to Wollongong and is likely to undergo treatment for a leg injury before returning to Basel to prepare for next season.

Under former Tottenham boss Christian Gross, Basel has now won four league championships and four cups.

Winning the Swiss championship means Basel enter the Champions League's second qualifying round later this year.
